Description of Services: Provides and administers culturally appropriate health programs and services to the member First Nation communities
  • Promotes overall health and enhanced quality of life for community members
  • Offers holistic health and social services that combine traditional values and cultural beliefs with modern practices
  • Promotes spiritual, mental, emotional and physical well-being through a two-week program at the Healing Lodge
  • Oversees the development of a full range of promotion, prevention and intervention services
  • Ensures the needed resources are available in communities
  • Provides services in the Anishinawbe language whenever possible
  • Advocates for members in accessing services outside the community
Health Services Integration Fund (HSIF)
  • Works as an initiative to support collaborative planning between First Nation groups, agencies, provincial ministries and Health Canada to meet the health care needs of First Nations people
  • Focus is on mental health and addictions services, especially prescription drug abuse
